Boy is this bizarre.
attorney Richard Wurdeman explained:
"At the time of the submission of their proposed recommendations, the Petitioners were also unaware and of the belief that they would be meeting the Hearing Officer at the approved locations and would be ascending the Mauna in their own vehicles. This is a critical point in that the Petitioners’ inability to follow their cultural and traditional practices in accessing the sacred Mauna and observing strict protocols precluded them from any participation in the site visit."
This surely can't mean that using their own vehicles is some sort of cultural or traditional practice. Can it? What am I missing?
The guy in the video bemoans that they never got out of the van, and thus couldn't feel the ju ju. But he seems reasonable.
And wouldn't "cultural and traditional practices" mean that non-alii wouldn't even be allowed to set foot up there? What am I missing?
It's almost a bad SNL skit at this point...
Cheers,
Kirt
