The only way to protect yourself is to wrap your house in tin foil. For those who have houses on stilts, just make sure the foil is wrapped underneath the house and in contact. That's your Faraday cage.
For those that can't do that, wrap the house in tin foil but make sure there's a grounding wire from the tin foil to the ground.
If you are really concerned about access to facebook, place you phone/tablet/computer in your car. It will provide extra protection.
In the meantime, life goes on.
