yup, Lots and Lot's of patience... Do What you can to be a good neighbor, hopefully in 2-4 weeks they will settle down. Invite them over for a BBQ.
Seriously, having a good relationships even if they are a bunch of A-holes, don't sour that... last thing you want is them knowing what your hot buttons are and just pushing them and you to limit of listing your house on Craigslist. Best, to ignore everything if you can't work it out. Chances are, they are "DREAMERS"...
Dunno where you live, but most people can't handle living in a tent for long, or running off a generator. It gets old real fast and after about a few months you may find that they give up on the Hawaiian "DREAM" really quickly. So, yeah, you may have to put up with it for a short time, but it's better than being nasty relationship to where they do stupid crap before they leave.
Yeah, I'd rather give them a extension cord than listen to a cheap 300 dollar gen set that sounded like a lawnmower 24/7. Don't let them take advantage but definitely you want to be on right side of a neighborly friendship (if can).
It's why I bought a 3 acre square lot. Those .3 acre lots seem pretty big till someone moves in with a few hunting dogs that bark 24/7. I think, if you wanted complete privacy, one would have to buy six 3 acre spaghetti lots or more. 750 X 1200 ought to do it, even tho, taxes will be harsh, you'll appreciate it later.
