So this is not a republican issue where Hawaii is concerned, am I correct?
Frank,
The Hawaii House or Senate representatives cannot vote on the Jones Act. Only the US House and Senate can. Yet, the Jones Act affects every citizen in Hawaii because almost everything is shipped in on vessels regulated by the Jones Act. It costs us money.
The claim is that the Jones Act protects the US shipping industry should it be needed in time of war. We also need a jeep and truck industry, a tire industry, and almost everything else in time of war, and yet those products don't receive the same protectionism.
The Donner Party really wasn't that great of a party, was it?
