In theory 10kw of lipo would replace your 8 l16 batteries exactly, 3c discharge and .5c charge will work nicely. This is assuming 50% dod capacity of the l16 bank and 100% dod for the lipo.. I would suggest considering a slightly larger lipo bank. While the effects of deep discharge are not as severe with the lipo chemistry it does impact the cycle life considerably. Notice the specs for the above mentioned battery pack showing a cycle rating of 2000. Most capacity curves will show a lipo pack cycling to 20% soc (at 3c discharge and .5c charge) will have approx 80% of the rated capacity at 2000 cycles. The real killer is rate of charge and discharge (becomes less of an issue as the pack size increases), this is also true of the safety issues. Keep the current low and properly fuse AT THE PACK terminal.
Keep in mind alibaba transactions can be complete scams with no recourse available. Most suppliers only take wire transfer from your bank so you have no credit card dispute protection. If they are willing to use PayPal it is 100% a scam. Shipping will be via slow boat from China to mainland and back to Hawai‘i, cost $500 or so. I have gone this route in the past and never received one pack, others took about 5 months to receive. If you can handle that there is a potential to save a great deal of money long term.
