Aloha! My first post. Been a "lurker" for quite awhile as we try to learn everything we can. We are in final stages of prep and research to move to Puna in a few months. (what timing, yeah?)
I have been carefully watching housing market, choosing neighborhoods etc for about 6 mos. Looking from Seaview, to Ainaloa, Hawaiian Beaches, Orchidland, and a little in HPP. We're looking in the $200k area so I search up to $250. Since the eruptions, I've seen only a few houses drop drastically in price. One in HB dropped a full $50k, another $40K. A couple $15K. Elsewhere, I haven't seen any drops. I have figured these are mainland owners who freaked at news. Otherwise, so far, looks stable.
I do have many "pending" sales on my list just to watch the process... 50 backouts as My_2_Cents reports is a LOT! Over 6 months, I've only seen 2 houses go "Pending" and then back for sale, and both have now sold.
