99.97% of the land owning kine beefs would disappear...
fwiw. they were Missionary .. the Shipmans were going to Micronesia left Boston June 5, 1854, ....Jane Stobie Shipman was pregnant on ship, in mid Pacific they had to detour to Maui so Willie could be born (1854)... so the Shipman family of now 3, changed plans, and stayed in Hawaii.. cause they didn't want to take a newborn back on the rough seas.... they were given the worst post, the Kau district post.. the father (Wm C. Shipman) died 6 yrs later (1861).... they were poor as hell... mother Stobie remarries Wm Reed of Hilo and moves east... thus the $$ for young Willie (cattleman, then sugar) to get started, ... he made the most of it...
