It would be interesting if someone (or several someones all at once) were brave enough to call the bullies' bluff and say, "OK, let's call the cops." The result would be interesting to say the least. The thugs and/or "water safety" personnel might well back down. If not, I'd be surprised if the police arrested someone for legally being on a public beach. If an arrest were made, I imagine the charges would be quickly dropped, given the likelihood that a judge and/or prosecutor would want nothing to do with such a case. But like I said to start out, some bravery would be required for someone to be prepared to deal with all that, and in the end, that's what the bullies are counting on.
And just for the record, does anyone know exactly who put that sign up? It does not look at all like regulation county or state type, and as such should have no legal basis.
