Protests in Hilo elsewhere in Hawaii - June 14th next
I think the image is generally a fair representation, with the crowd largely consisting of older white individuals (who could sing along with Ruderman's cover of Ohio of course ;) along with handfuls of locals, other diverse ethnicities, and younger folks, sprinkled throughout. Given this was a largely a political rally, with one of the speakers being the Chair of the Democratic Party of Hawaii, the participants reflected the broad trends of the electorate in Hawaii that you'd see back when going to the polls was a thing.

As always, there were some individuals that stood out including some young Puna hippies and their kids (who positively embraced the rain instead of trying to escape it) as well as the couple younger ladies with the large American flag (right foreground in the picture) who were in plain dress and bonnets. Didn't get a chance to talk story with them (Quakers?) but they left an impression - will need to keep an eye out at future events.

Got a match?
Sorry, prevention is better than cure, especially when it comes to fires (unless the goal is of course to burn it all down on the way out the existential door - if so, then suck it Smokey, YOLO DGAF!)
