that doesn't fit the narrative expressed over and over again by a few folks here
It is difficult to know how to describe people who can’t understand that a stated policy of arresting murderers, drug dealers, and dangerous criminals is in no way similar to one in which those arrested are coffee farmers in Kona, teachers on Maui, and young women flying into HNL.
Do we have any past examples of a similar government bait and switch tactic, with the tacit support and approval of a portion of the general population who mostly chose to look the other way, and pretended the collateral damage to their neighbors was acceptable? And even defended the policy, and asked others to be patient and see how it turns out? Are there examples of a time when locking up residents without charges, transporting them long distances without legal justification later allowed the monsters to carry out plans that anyone who paid attention in a 7th grade history class might find parallels, even recognizing quotations and symbols co-opted from an earlier time?
Do we want our neighbors, farmers, business owners in Hawaii to be treated as criminals, if they’re not charged with a criminal offense? What might happen if you don’t care, or if you make excuses for those who are the real law breakers, policy makers who have had a majority of court case judgments ruled against them, and the enforcers of those broken laws roaming our public streets without uniforms, identification, not reading Miranda rights who “just follow orders?” Orders invalidated by the courts?
