It was packed and busy! Over half a mile long (count those steps), makai side filled, much of mauka side as well, 1000+ people, in the neighborhood of the first Hilo Women's March in 2017 (Donnie's bad deeds do turn out a protest crowd). Wide mix of ages as well, lots of teens, young and middle-aged adults, along with the always reliable more experienced folk.
Plenty flags too for the aficionados - everything from the U.S. flag, regular and inverted, Hawaii flag, Ukrainian, Pride, FDT, and a red and black Anarchist flag (Topple Ⓐll Tyrants, indeed). Even saw a couple of those scary Mexican flags - went to clutch my pearls reflexively but then realized I had not put them on, given the informal vibe of the gathering. Shared a shaka instead.
Cheers to the handmaidens, musicians, scooter felon, sign artists, chant leaders, and everyone who turned out!
