In 2024 it was possible to buy a standing home in Puna for a quarter of a million bucks. The thing no one told us was that same home is nearly impossible to sell due to all the requirements the state has saddled the homeowner with, should the home need to get a new permit. Political leaders like Trump will come and go, but fundamental economic realities will be our downfall.
