Pohoiki in the Future Perfect Tense
#36
MyManao - Interestingly, with the new notch (the newly exposed bay) cut into the pile of debris I suspect the ocean may clear out the rest in the next few years without anymore help..

It could also go the other way - when the channel was open, you could see new sand and rock deposits being made on the back/mauka side of the swimming hole. If the channel stayed open, the material may have just filled in the boat ramp area completely, at least in the short term. Regardless, it seems like it's largely outside our control (or at least exceeds the available budget) - have to wait and see what the real powers that be decide to do in the coming years.

Maybe someone in the meantime could come up with a way to catch fish that is flexible and site appropriate, allowing for such essential activity (if that is what is it) to move on down to one of the several new beaches as conditions require. The tools needed could be sourced from locally available and sustainable materials and use local labor, creating a positive feedback loop where moderate inputs of human effort that don't create long-lasting pollution results in a net increase of caloric energy availability. Sorry, must be lost in a fantasy world that of course could never exist in the past, present, or future tense...
