Most expensive groceries in the country...
#29
How many of us would be left?

The first thing that comes to mind, here locally, is how the fat cats of Silicon Valley have been gobbling up Hawaii property. That guy that bought his name onto Hilo Medical Center, while he’s slipping our local gov bucks to turn their heads, has been buying up all kines property in and around Waimea. And, of course, the iconic Ellison owning Lanai, and Zuckerfucker his nefarious acquisition of properties around his  “compound” on Kauai, all portent the desire of the rich to make Hawaii their’s.

So, imagine, once ICE gets rid of the obvious, “illegals” they’re going to go after the Filipinos, the Portuguese, the Japanese, Chinese and of course the more obvious, the Mexicans. And, in doing so, start a land grab. Scare all the people of color out of here and buy up all their homes, their business holdings, their land.

When I moved here, and fell in love with the East side of the island, I first bought land in Waipio. Back then, as it has been almost to this day, the only way land in the valley passed from one to another is through seller financed agreements of sales in which the seller carried the paper and the buyer paid them off over time. You just can’t, in almost all cases, get convention financing for land in the valley. And land values have been accordingly lower than what they would be if you could. But more recently, starry eyed dot.com money has shown up and folks are paying through the nose. A while back a Quonset hut on a few acres of flood prone land went for $800,000, cash. The guy just wrote a check. The last property I bought, about 15 years ago, cost about the same as the first I bought, almost 50 years ago (between 100k and 200k). Nothing changed, until Silicon Money showed up. And it’s all over the island.. the state.

Talk to folks on Maui about it and the energies flow.. it’s a very hot topic.. and all the land investors are treating it like a gold rush. Money is just falling out of the sky. And the poor local who the heartless disparage, are just ‘out of luck.’

And yeah.. the Native’s, American Indians, Hawaiians, are surely among DHS’s 100 million… and where are they suppose to go?
