A cesspit it is, and they revel in its mire. One can but regard the spectacle with regal mirth, for the farce plays out ever the same.

Ever the same? I beg to differ. It used to be wholly different. A peaceful community, with far more aloha than distain. For instance, using the wayback machine, and taking a stroll through the years is quite the eye opener. I used it to visit September 14, 2008..

And found an entirely different world. One of community, and folks looking out for each other. But that page doesn't have the following threads archived.. so you have to use your own memory based on the titles and the tone. And remember the posters.

Where you can see the evolution to bitter distain raising its ugly head and a lot of noises along those lines beginning to infest. This one even has the first time I (under the moniker of dakine) ask Rob to put an end to it.

I, seriously, credit the downfall to PaulW and TomK, who collectively, for years drove dozens, hundreds of PW participants away with their constant bullying and browbeating. Serious people, wonderful people, professional people, and every other walk of life, who just have no interest in being witness to their endless haranguing. But, in all honestly, Rob allowed it to happen under the guise of its a real reflection of the people of our community. Learn to live with them. Which in some way I can appreciate. In others.. well I wouldn't run the place like that.

And, now, with the tone of the national discourse being so raunchy, so childish and divisive, I fear many have taken to believing that is a natural way for humans to interact.. imagine that.

And still, all told, besides the history lesson, I agree completely Kane.
