Durian Fiend - "Pele is an asshole". LOL. That slogan could have been a success by slapping it on a T-shirt after the 2018 eruption.
Personally, it seems like Pele was being pretty modest actually - a brief and localized reminder that we all live in a zone of active geological creation performed by forces largely beyond our ken, and it's best to stay humble brah and go with the flow or seek less lively neighborhoods. In comparison, the Ailaʻau/Kualoloa eruption lasted ~50 years, covered 166 square miles, everything basically from Kilauea Iki to HPP, made Kaloli point, and left the longest known lava tube cave system (talk about a big 'a'a hole! ;)
