Puna internet options - the good, the bad, and the ugly
#23
Thanks, Obie. We have had Spectrum since they came to our road in central HPP, and we are generally satisfied with it. Neighbors who have tried Hawaiian TelCom's fiber optic have complained about frequent random outages and poor service when things go wrong. Several have switched back to Spectrum. My only real complaint is that Spectrum goes down during our frequent power outages. We have a whole house generator, so some backup internet would be nice. Cell phone reception here is weak, but a phone hot spot looks like the cheapest option for backup. Maybe we need one of those cell signal boosters. Starlink is sort of expensive for secondary use.
