Larry Ellison is a Greedy Douchebag
#40
Oh Amazon's issues go way past those concerns, they just haven't racked up the political damage and death toll like Musk's endeavors. Again, like with carbon, the math matters. Seems strange to keep simping for a particular billionaire just because you use his products in the "Greedy Douchebag" thread, but you do you.

randomq - Individual income over $200,000 was taxed around 90% from the early 1940s to the 1960s. And yet the country advanced and innovated, the average worker enjoyed huge improvements in income and quality of life, people were more engaged in civic institutions, etc. If the billionaire class wants to go back to the "good old days" let's go back to those ones.

As you know, the 1% have moved onto to new tactics to avoid paying taxes, largely by taking out loans against their stocks (oh look, there's former(?) Hawai'i resident Larry Ellison again), hence avoiding income taxes. This is why there are legislative moves to tax their wealth directly including here in Hawai'i in 2022, 2023, and 2025. While other states have implemented various high-earner and investment taxes, but no state has implemented a wealth tax yet, but it's clearly coming as the tax code needs to be as up to date as the tactics used by billionaires to avoid paying their fair share.

When do we get to tax Larry for the the full value of Lanaʻi, along with all his other profits derived from we the taxpayers?
