we have our own grocery store, gas station, ACE hardware, and multiple highways ... move to a place that has those things.
So like Kea'au? Or for those with big needs, stop the daily Drive to Hilo, and just Move to Hilo? Makes sense to me.
TBF, we have a Puna Makai Route from Shower to 4 Corners, via Railroad in HPP, Railroad between HPP and Beaches (worked fine last time when it was open) to Kahakai to the "newly" paved Government Road. It's there, and works when needed - it's just not some high-speed thoroughfare, which again, makes sense to me. No reason to turn lower Puna into the 'burbs.
