Why yes, the good ole days of Governor Lingle.
First, with respect to the garbage issue when Lingle was Maui's Mayor, let's be clear - while I am NOT condoning the Union Agreement that was in place and spelled out the terms the workers had with respect to the Uku Pau compensation system, the issue was the Lingle just ran roughshod over and violated the specific Union Agreement she was, by law, required to uphold.
And then, while Lingle did usher Hawaii into the renewable energy forefront, lets also remember she brought us the "tremendously successful" Hawaii Superferry, again by just running roughshod over rules, regulations and laws, as well as the infamous drastic cuts to the education of Hawaii's keiki - including "Furlough Fridays" and having protesters arrested in her office.
A consummate republican in my book!
