Can we include tax deductions on tax returns for both corporate and individuals? Because they get tax money by not making tax payments? I have a friend in Kaimu who worked for the IRS years ago. He said the reason the IRS goes after Head Of Family claims (one of the most likely to trigger an audit) is because it’s easy and the individuals who check that line on their tax form are generally not financially capable to hire a lawyer by the hour to argue with government employees. The wealthy with attorneys on retainer can fight the IRS for years at no cost to their bottom line. So for instance, if you claim you paid your daughter over $700,000 as a “consultant” with no supporting documentation, you can then engage in infinite delays and excuses why the documents are not required or available at this time (we digitized the paperwork! The hard drive discombobulated, technically speaking, but we’re working on it, really!).
It’s easier and provides a higher collection rate for IRS agents to go after lower middle class taxpayers in places like Puna. Especially when trained agents who are capable of understanding complex forms and the legality of unusual deductions are systematically found to be redundant and disappear from the government payrolls. With claims that YOUR government is finally saving YOUR money on an unnecessary and bloated workforce. And bird brains (see another recent thread) believe it’s they who benefit. Sure.
