Hawaii Scrambles for Eggs - Farmers Feel Low in Pecking Order
#6
'tang - It is a fair sum of kala that Hawaii taxpayers have been asked to shell out...

Ah, but if one considers that in previous reporting by CB titled..

Push To Feed Hawaiʻi Kids More Local Food Is ‘Structural Disaster’

Where it begins..

The DOE has not taken the effort seriously and has no real plan for how to meet a legislative mandate to spend 30% of its food budget locally by 2030, according to a state audit.

One might think that Cruz's plan is a step towards addressing the shortfalls. After all, the DOE already spends massively to feed Hawaii keiki. So why not do what can to lower those costs? And if not lower, at least keep the money in house, local kine?

be pono..

I'd vote to turn 'em green for sure.
