Tam Hunt - PGV Statement

[knieft]

fiber cable has reached us (but not doable being so far from road)

Standard MST drops exist up to 2K feet, or they could hard-splice a section of middle-mile. Not impossible.

That’d be right over my head, but a HawaiianTel installer told me they would not hook me up, that it was beyond their distance policy to do so. I was just chatting up the guy installing in Ainaloa. Had no intention to bail on StarLink. Groked a photo of the new box on the telephone pole next to driveway to find out what it was.

And, yes, old solar panels have a second life as panels.

HotPE: re: towers in Japan over rugged terrain

Similar in Peru, though it is not an island of course. Pylons stretching off into no man’s land from the desert coast to the hydroelectric mountains (so to speak) feeding in lines to Lima. The Maoist Shining Path folks would topple them for sport whenever they wanted to cause power shortages (apigones) in Lima to support their armed strikes. Days off of work and, oh the stars at night!

I’ll stop these OT posts…now.

Cheers,
Kirt
