• Filed as a Democratic candidate for STATE REPRESENTATIVE, DIST 4 (Puna area, Hawaiʻi Island) in 2026; campaign website is hunt4house.com.

• District 4 covers Puna, one of the state's most economically vulnerable areas — with the lowest employment and salaries in the state — and a community exposed to supply disruptions and natural disasters.

• Centers her campaign on local food production and local renewable energy as complementary resilience strategies for Puna: growing more food locally and generating power locally reduces dependence on outside supply chains while creating jobs and economic opportunity. Campaign tagline: 'Local food, local power.' (Source: https://hunt4house.com)

• Emphasizes mālama ʻāina as a guiding principle and frames affordable housing, better schools, and economic opportunity as interconnected priorities for a more self-reliant Puna community. (Source: https://hunt4house.com

VOTEHAWAIʻI EDITORIAL INFERENCE

Tamlyn (Tam) Hunt is running for State House District 4 (Puna) on a platform of local food and energy independence. She argues Puna's dangerously low employment rate and exposure to supply disruptions demand investment in self-sufficient local food production and clean power rather than continued dependency on outside systems.
