Mahalo Ironyak for providing example #3 for Edge.
I'd be interested in what you base your "thin slice" observation on, if you have time to share your data.
Below, Tam advocates for many wise things including PGV, bodily-autonomy, and more (at link).

Energy and resilience. Hawaiʻi should not be importing 90+ percent of its energy from a 2,500-mile fossil-fuel supply line that runs through the Strait of Hormuz. We should be building distributed, networked, locally owned renewable energy on every scale we can — rooftop solar, community solar, geothermal at PGV, EV charging, microgrids, virtual power plants. This is left libertarianism made physical. Power, generated and controlled by the people who use it.
· Personal-freedom and bodily-autonomy guarantees written into state law.
· Honest, evidence-based engagement with every issue — including the uncomfortable ones.
I will not pretend to be anyone other than what I am: a left libertarian, a policy attorney, a writer, an Army veteran, an EV-driving climate guy, a longtime Puna resident, and someone who believes Hawaiʻi can be a model for the world if we have the courage to do this our own way.
