have a fancy electric coffee maker
Nope. I learned my lesson years ago from a friend on the mainland. He bought his property cheap cheap cheap back in the 1980’s. Since that time the area has been discovered by tech bros from Seattle. One of them gave my buddy his “old” coffee maker that looks like a calliope sitting on a chunk of his countertop. Bells, whistles, tubes. Push a button and it grinds your beans, brews a fresh cup of the most delicious coffee you’ll ever drink.
My friend started to wonder, what happens if this thing ever breaks? He checked, it cost $5000. Now, his joy of exquisitely brewed coffee is also tempered with a tinge of sadness because he knows he could never in his right mind pay $5000 for a coffee maker.
Of course there’s always the hope that one of the neighbors might need another newer machine for no discernible reason? Maybe his stock options hit a big, higher, rounded off number with lots of zeros?
Right?
