Folded basket filters will work, it’s true, I’ve tried the technique, but they are thin and when removing from the filter holder can on occasion break, spilling (sometimes hot) coffee grounds across the counter or floor. It doesn’t happen often but when it does it really throws a wrench into the morning humor. I don’t watch or listen to the news as the day dawns
The permanent/reusable filter should solve your filter failure and humor issues. The good ones do not break. Maybe by pointing that out, you could change your morning partner's risk-reward calculus with the sediment in their cup? What time do you generally start watching the news and what channel do you watch?
