BTW, I recently tried to post a message on Damon's blog where I noted that one of the people complaining about how the author of akamaivoters.com was anonymous was herself posting anonymously. Damon did not allow my post to be published on his blog.
Aloha George. I posted to Damon's blog without thinking about ID since I use Kapohocat here all the time with my real name in the signature line. Dont want to say its all about me, but if you did see that... here is my real info...
The point I was trying to make was that anonymous information has been the mainstay of reporting since the beginning of time. Think Deep Throat, think Organized Crime, think of any time you might know something about someone who can cause you or your family physical or economic harm and how willing you would be to disclose your name while you divulge the information about them. If you want an example of what happens when you put your name out look at Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame to see what can happen to you. In this case it's also wise to remember that Mr. Kenoi does, admittedly, have known associates who are convicted murderers. Knowing that would you be anxious to 1) get the police reports out and 2) keep your name a secret?
Damon and Hunter keep saying that because the author of akamaivoters chooses to remain anonymous the police reports published on that website somehow don't count. I mean, anybody who gives that any thought, and who isn't in the bag, should be able to figure out that position is ludicrous.
In the case of the post I tried to put on Damon's blog, I was just trying to point out that while Damon riles against anonymous sources who try to publish things he doesn't like because he says they're sleazy, posters on his blog who do agree with him he congratulates, regardless of their desire for anonymity.
One of Damon's answers to that is that it's his blog and he can do what he wants. I agree, he can. But all of out here in internet land should possibly have some understanding of where Damon and Hunter are coming from, dontch'a think?
