The Bicker Board
It's simple to fold the basket filters so they fit the cone.

Edge is it the common #4 cone you use?  Apologies if this has been covered. It has been a bit since I've checked in and some posts have been deleted which is pretty amazing in a discussion about coffee filters.

Is your coffee maker a plastic, drip type, coffee apparatus? Have you tried a permanent filter and found them lacking? Some people enjoy the flavor profile of the added oils that paper filters remove.  Some people can't get past the fines that pass through the permanent filters. Permanent filters certainly require more maintenance.  Perhaps you already have one, on hand, for emergencies? If it's not stainless steel, there is a big difference in my humble coffee opinion. Coffee is such a personal thing.

Everyone down on the reef hopes you find a great deal on your next package of conical coffee filters.

Coffee is the first thing in the morning.  Am I half awake? A quarter awake?  Less?  What I have learned over decades of brewing experience is this, keep it simple with minimal possibility of effort inducing failure.  Folded basket filters will work, it’s true, I’ve tried the technique, but they are thin and when removing from the filter holder can on occasion break, spilling (sometimes hot) coffee grounds across the counter or floor.  It doesn’t happen often but when it does it really throws a wrench into the morning humor.  I don’t watch or listen to the news as the day dawns, and prefer not to create any Breaking News in my own kitchen either.

Folded basket filters admittedly are a good solution for some folks, those who are fully functional at that hour.

That’s the weak spot isn’t it?  I don’t mind a little sediment in my coffee, but I’m not the only one drinking it.

Yes, yes, I know, it’s higher carbon.  I’m planting a lime tree today.  It’s a tree.  The limes won’t burn any petroleum in transport.

Who would have thought coffee would be such a "hot" topic on the ole PunaWeb?

For a little capital investment, the by far easiest, simplest and fastest way to have your morning coffee, especially when stumbling out of the bedroom at any percentage of being awake, is to get a BUNN.

Amazon.com: BUNN GRB Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, Black: Drip Coffeemakers: Home & Kitchen

Amazon.com: BUNN 8-12 Cup Coffee Filters, 6 each, 100ct: Home & Kitchen

There are, however, some drawbacks, but with easy workarounds, such as the machine has a built in, always on hot water tank, which uses a lot of power, so regardless of you being on solar or grid, this can be an issue. Simple workaround, put the machine on a timer that turns the brewer's hot water tank heater on an hour or so before you stumble out of bed, and turns it off after your normal daily fix of coffee has been achieved.

The second issue - you MUST use the BUNN specific filters as they are "taller" than the regular coffee filter. Since the machine dispenses hot water relatively fast, using the standard filters can cause the grounds to overflow into the filter basket and thus your coffee.

You can make it even easier for yourself by preparing the pitcher of water and loading the coffee filter in the filter basket with your favorite coffee and put in the fridge the night before. Next morning, slap the filter basket into place, pour the water in and viola, in 4 minutes, you're drinking excellently brewed coffee.

The permanent/reusable filter should solve your filter failure and humor issues. The good ones do not break. Maybe by pointing that out, you could change your morning partner's risk-reward calculus with the sediment in their cup?  What time do you generally start watching the news and what channel do you watch?

The Bunn is problematic at least for me I have a well and the Bunn boils the water , leaving behind the minerals.
My solution is to use a smart outlet controlled by Alexa .

Make the coffee the night before and have Alexa turn it on when you wake up.

I have no idea why they added those spoons but the Chinese may be using it as a way to dispose of contaminated metal.

Yes, good point Obie. I should have mentioned that and recommend that you use at a minimum County Water, or as we do, the 5 gallon "office cooler" bottles we get at a place in Shipman.

But to be clear, the BUNN does not actually boil the water, it heats it to 200 degrees, which BUNN says is the "optimum" brew temperature.

Why would someone want a catʻs paw spoon

Why not? Japanese houseware stores are filled with all manner of cat’s paw themed utensils:
