I was merely taking images, having known Keoni & Kalani from HB WAG SC & know that albizia were at the 2004 Biennial International Va`a Federation Championships in Hilo, predating the images I took by over a decade!
Ray B also uses albizia for his full size modeling of the museum specimens, as they do give some of the sailing feel of the original of Koa & koki`o...
If you want very long term, of course glass reinforced carbon fiber will give you many years more than any wood & albizia is not a prime wood choice, but it is a very available, light weight, easier to carve alternative to waiting generations for Koa forests to yield the size trees that albizia can produce in mere decades!
