I just took a look at my rock situation to refresh my memory. Near one of my column bases I have 3 flows visible.
From top to bottom is 6"-4"-40". Each flow has a different density and each individual flow contains it's own density gradient. Oh yeah - that was after "descaling" 6" of weathered surface rock with a backhoe and pressure washer.

Check the current county codes. Most pier foundations do not cut it anymore. A continuous foundation is the preferred way to go, and provides a basis for adding screen walls and other elements to make the underfloor space more useful. The best way to do a structurally second-rate solution is to not do that system.

seeing a lot of new builds going in on pier blocks,so somebody must not have read that section
4 in the past year on my 1 mile section of road alone
