She hasn't been consistent. Gabbard voted to increase military spending in 2018 and was supportive of drone strikes in the middle east.  She also took campaign money from defense contractors.

I don't see these two statements as contradictory. Yes, the 2nd amendment is a right and yes, protection from authoritarian powers is a purpose of that right. You just can't use an assault weapon to do this and you need to go through background check, etc.
