Railroad Ave connective and experience
#41
I drove from HPP and the speed limit was 25 when I turned off of Makuu, then it dropped to 15 on a newly paved section, then went up to 20 on the widened gravel part of Railroad.

i agree with Kane, it's a bit disappointing nobody in the gov't made the cleanup of those vehicles a priority.

I agree...... Make the road a beautiful park setting with bike and jogging paths! Big Grin

Oh and get rid of junked cars! Big Grin I won't be driving R/R unless lava cuts off 130 and I must drive it OR it becomes paved and saves me time vs going 130.

My question is will they turn off the stupid 4 way stop blinking lights that the county spent a billion dollars and remove the stop signs when they close the road? Talk about unnecessary money spent and poor planning.

free transfer stations that will take everything that was dumped out there

Whole cars don't fit down the chute.

Several local companies will pay owners for junk cars and tow them away for free. Land owners just have to call.

Shipman and/or the State don't have time to call and/or can't afford free?

Maybe providing access to the dead cars is too much liability?

Maybe it didn't matter because it was a "closed area" where nobody would see.

Maybe the county was just trying to establish an emergency alternative route so aesthetics weren't a factor at the time. They can always go back and make it pretty if it ever becomes the primary access road. Of course if that happens you won't even see the junkers because of the dust.

I'd like to see a little landscaping done as well. A nice hibiscus hedge would be ascetically pleasing to the average Puna commuter.

After the landscaping is done, some rest areas and interpretive cultural displays would also be appreciated.

Is there any provision for me to go back when I've forgotten my sunglasses? Perhaps a roundabout halfway through would be useful.

Come on Billy, get with the program!

a roundabout halfway through

Yes; a rough-cut prototype would be more appropriate for the State's first-ever roundabout. Think of the savings when it's abandoned because nobody can navigate it.

a roundabout halfway through

Well if a roundabout with no side roads is on our wish list, I'd like to add a nice decorative fountain in the middle, with no water. Except when it rains.
