Synchronized Christmas Lightshow!
#11
Hi Alohasteven,

Thank you for coming by and thanks for the compliments! People come from Kona (and everywhere in between) to watch the show. I heard my lights made it on the news sometime last week. Now the traffic has picked up big time from that and my neighbor is gratiously doing traffic control with me.

My partner and I brought our daughter and two young visitor friends to enjoy the music and light-show last night. Wonderful! The consensus among our crew is this choreographed music-and-lights show is the best we've seen anywhere outside of the Black Rock Desert, eclipsed only by the various morphs of the Cubatron at Burning Man. Excellent choices of music for this Xmas show, too. Such a gift to the community, especially for the little kids (and kids at heart)!

While waiting in seats among the back rows yesterday afternoon at the Center Stage dance performance in UHH's theater, before the show I faintly heard some familiar electric guitar coming from one of the rows in front of me. The distinctive music was one of the tracks in Stan's Christmas light show, coming from a big iPhone which a gal was holding while people clustered around her watching a small recorded version of the light show on 18th, exclaiming and commenting. They enjoyed watching several songs (and the helium-voiced announcement about parking and trash, too) before the Center Stage performance began.

The Center Stage dancers (many of them extraordinarily limber and strong youths from Puna) were as spectacular and astonishing in their own way as Stan's light show. The rare degree of talent and skill demonstrated locally here is just remarkable. I have seen few other communities which could even hope to demonstrate such abilities. For example, I have noticed science fairs here far outshine science fairs I have seen elsewhere. This being the relatively sparsely populated agricultural Big Island rather than the robustly-funded and densely-populated SF Bay Area or NYC, such indicators of quality really speak well for local youth, parents, teachers, and community support.

Astonishing skill! This archer is a real-life Legolas and then some!

it was WONDERFUL![Big Grin] i liked that big round thing you added this year, but my favorite remains the red and blue tree that appears to circle around. we had a front row seat in your yard until a tall truck pulled in right in front of us. but stan, thank you once again for this show you put on for all of us... it has become a new christmas tradition for us.. linnette and ron

Hello All,

Thank you for the awesome compliments, I really appreciate it. It warms my heart that people (especially children) enjoy the show. That is the main motivation for me in creating this lightshow once a year, and I hope my neighbors understand that. As always, it's a free venue for the community.

Showtimes are 7pm to 9pm each night from Dec 1 to Jan 1.

Last night was by far the busiest night of the season, or even the history of punalights. Luckily I have my neighbor Kit Carson and Spencer to help direct traffic.

Next year I plan to team up with the Hawaii Food Basket, as there were many people who tried to give me money this year. I don't want to have people feel obligated in donating money to a local charity, so I figured canned goods may be a better option.

Thank you for coming by and supporting my Christmas Light Show!

Stan how fabulous thank you so much! When on island I didn't know it was up so missed the in person show. Your vimeo video is excellent only 3:06 min!

I was able to see Wizards In Winter by Trans-Siberian Orchestra in person at a Sacramento concert several years ago. I highly recommend seeing this Orchestra, especially with teens who are interested in a musical career. The Christmas Cannon was a lovely piece but would be more suitable for a Manger scene I think.

You are having just as much fun as the children I think! Your lights are spectacular and your abilities are accumulating vastly! Thank you!

Mella,
I took my teen granddaughters to see TSO as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago. What a wonderful show they put on. The girls loved it and so did I.
