Renewing Drivers License Will Need More Documents
#11
Gosh, I read the article, got to the part of we think your data will be secure, and started to wonder.... They will have every major document for my life. And I had questions, as in I was married, now I am not. Do I still need paperwork for that? What if you didn't change your name back when you got divorced? What if you did. I dunno, it sounds like the first few months will be horrifically upsetting for some. I know a lot of people who are document challenged. How much for all these certifies copies? ETC.

Life goes on, with you or without you.

We have a gentleman in our neighborhood who is having a problem getting ID right now.A few years ago he went to renew his drivers license and could not pass the eye test.He let his license expire.

He finally became aware that he cannot board an aircraft and fly anywhere without current photo ID.While trying to get a state ID card he found out they will not honor his birth certificate.

His original birth certificate has the embossed seal but does not have his full name.It says Baby Walsh .He has a second birth certificate that has his full name and that of his parents, but doesn't have the embossed seal.

The hospital he was born in that issued the birth certificates was closed and torn down many years ago.

He was born in Washington DC.

Obie,
within the last two years I needed to get certified copies for myself, parents, and grandparents. Same problems with hospitals and copies in the family. I learned how to do it.

What you do, is contact the Registrar for the County where the birth or marriage took place. The contact for this can be easily found by running a search. Most County Registrars already have a link on their page for how to order certified BC. It is really not too hard, but it costs money to expedite them. There are different types, long and short form.

I hope this helps.

Peg, this freaked me out a bit until I realized they already have all those documents because they issued them - this rule just matches them up to another government document and to you. Still a tad scary, but we live in a scary world, so I guess it's the price we have to pay...

When I heard this on the news last night my hair stood on end. Yes, I want to live safely just as all of us do, but where does this end? When are we completely safe? When our infants are tagged with microchips? Will you find that acceptable also?

Glad to see DDForm 2 (see list in original link) is the only document I need. Still irked the last time I bought a vehicle and had to make a special trip back to the dealer to show my Hi license because my DDForm 2 was deemed insufficient .

"Could they possibly make it more complicated?"

Never underestimate the ability of humans to continually make things more complicated. Especially the government. Smile For your viewing pleasure, a Rube Goldberg experience:

That's a good thing. I don't understand the problem?
Unless the person is here illegally or in p.c. terms "undocumented"
....waiting two weeks is not a big deal , just don't wait until the last minute. It's a legal document not jiffy popcorn Smile

My guess riverwolf is you didn't have to give up your identity to get married (if you have ever married), in the USA, back in the day before computer science. Ah that would be anyone married after say 1994? My guess.

I've married 3 times, widowed twice. I can just imagine the scenario to prove how I am! Think I'll legally take my maiden name back that should be a legal challenge post the 2001 created theater.
