Adding to a net metering solar installation

We got our solar power installation put in while net metering was still available through HELCO.

This year has been a bit cloudier than last.
Our solar output is down.

I am beginning to think about adding 1 or 2 more panels to our array.
Anyone know how HELCO would react to this idea?

I'm thinking that they would want to remove us from the net metering program if we did so.
But then, maybe being grandfathered in might give us some protection as long as we stay below a certain output level.

Anyone have knowledge about this situation?

"Current NEM customers who want to install more PV panels or otherwise increase their current system size will be required to transition to either the new Grid-Supply or Self-Supply programs. In addition, the PUC also agreed to allow the Hawaiian Electric Companies to submit a revised time-of-use rate proposal to further expand options for our customers."

I had heard something along the line of what you quoted from their website as applying to all new hookups, and assumed that it would also apply to any changes to an existing installation.
I guess We'll just continue to pay the extra $10 to $15 every couple months or so over the $20 minimum, and keep hoping for clearer skies and sunnier weather.
It still beats then old $200/month we used to pay.
After we recoup the installation costs, we might eventually take a serious look at completely cutting the cord before taking any of the options they now offer.
