I own a lot in Puna and needed a survey company to do some work for me. I choose to use dlb & Associates in Kea'au to do the work. I contacted Dan Berg and worked out the details. I found Dan to be very helpful. Dan is very detailed and took the time to ensure all my needs where taken care of. I can't tell you how impressed I was with the level of professionalism I found when I received my final report. The report was very comprehensive and covered every aspect of what I had asked for and more. If you ever need your land in Puna surveyed or mapped I can not recommend dlb & Associates any higher. Does he stake and pin, or just stake?
I have a silly question about surveying before construction. The only thing that links my belief about the location of the lot I bought in HPP and the TMK associated with the purchase is the seller's assertion that the lot I bought was the one I thought I bought. I have had this nightmare of building on my lot, only to find that the one I actually bought was one lot over.
Prior to construction, is it typical to survey the lot, based on the TMK number just to make sure the house is going up in the right place?

I know of a situation exactly that you are afraid of that happened on 16th in HPP a few years back.

He will do whatever you want done. I had front & rear pin location & staking done. Along with 4 side marker pins & stakes(2 on each side). You do have to be careful. Im my case I used an agent who showed me the exact piece of property associated with the TMK # I was purchasing.

Don't know what TMK means, but I have always gone off of title description and County records verification of parcel,and survey. County planning would have the maps and parcel number verification. With description, find the first "pin", as it may be from the middle of the street intersection measuring up to, and parallel with your first property pin, then maybe over so many feet to actually line up with your first corner closest to intersection start point. Could also be a benchmark at adjoining street and giving direction compass point straight along back property line. County map will show benchmarks. Then work distances and compass direction ( don't forget true North to magnetic North!) to find the rest of the pins.
