Kenny please try to attend the meetings or if that is not possible, try to convince one of your retired friends to attend. share info between yourselves and try to be productive members as we are all in this together. it's not a case of us against them...please, try to remain positive and acquire credible firsthand info. for your selves

Agreed, Frank, that the larger problem with HPPOA now is the history of the membership being involved less than is needed. Two things that are needed for HPPOA to stay on the high road and which have fallen over are first, member participation and second, board of directors orderly transparent conduct (as in legal and according to the bylaws).
The second can only be sure to happen following on from the first.
What we now have is not a case of "us against them"; however, IMO, it is most definitely a case of "them" (the majority of the current HPPOA Board of Directors) not doing anything close to a credible job in conducting the association's business for all of "us".

beg to differ James...Time is needed and should be given to the current bod to demonstrate their ability to serve our hppoa...under the watchful eyes of those who attend the meetings of course

Video and recordings are excellent ways to get "uninterpreted" information that is not run through a filter of someone else's perspective. The board chose to make sure that will not be available. They have chosen to limit our ability to get credible information, after scheduling these meetings when most working people cannot possibly attend.

James Weatherford and his wife have NOT attended the last two meetings of the board.
James is a hypocrit who has only hearsay, not first hand knowledge of what has taken place at the last 2 productive HPP meetings.
The last two meetings were video taped.
James, follow your own preaching: don't give slanted opinions about how the board is performing if you are not there to see it first hand.

You are correct, when the board changed their meeting time to 9am, we were not able to attend. We were working, as were many other members.
That is my point: one thing to increase member participation is to schedule board meetings when members can attend.
I am glad the last two meetings were video taped, and expect any member who wants to do so to be allowed that opportunity.

I am encouraged to see that the Board has decided to add "Owner Input" to the new agenda, in line with all the recent calls for increased member participation.
However, I am discouraged to note that the Bylaws are being broken again with regard to "Executive Session: Contracts".
"Article VIII - Board of Directors
Section 9 - Meetings of the Board
(d) Executive Sessions
1. Description
b. An executive session shall be for the purpose of discussing personnel issues, matters of litigation, or matters of attorney/client privilege."
Until this meeting, contracts were dealt with in open sessions.

I've seen it done by two previous boards, including the one immediately before this one. In one case they even said the contractor insisted on it due to proprietary information being involved. I don't know if that is kosher with the by-laws, but there is precedent.

Our by-laws are clear when it comes to Executive Session. Could not agree with you more on this one. Executive Session is not a place to discuss contracts.
I've been concerned with this one before. It's happened before....one example, check the minutes for November 17, 2010, X b) Unfinished Business. "Selection of Truck Hauling Service Bids Opened on October 15, 2010." "It was decided this issue would be considered in Executive Session".
Wrong then.......and if that is what this new board is doing, wrong again!!!
Is this contract for an attorney? I will be expecting an explanation on this one.

Frank,
The majority of this board, as their very first act, terminated the three principal employees of the association, in an inappropriate manner that has brought legal actions. They demonstrated right then and there that they were unsuited. As Steve1 has stated elsewhere on this thread, any new board member(s) need to learn the ropes for the first year. The majority, including President, Treasurer, and the other one who screams and yells and curses, undertook that termination and have yet to provide valid, documented reasons to justify it.
