Hopefully this is money well spent, Upgrading the golf course may lead to better business for hilo in the future. The 17 million may not be enough to make all the needed changes, it will be a start in the right direction.

Having a positive mayor sighting in our community is always a good thing too.

The Hilo area was looking so run down and neglected a few years ago. The Gulf wars and the Great Recession, both Republican orchestrated, hit the east side hard with its de-emphasis on more upper middle class tourism. The Naniloa is starting on a $20M renovation. Considering a pharmacy college, if UHH doesn't have it taken away from them, and new marine sciences facilities, could mean more technical professional conferences, Hilotown needed to get renovation going. Remember, it was a Republican mayor that let the eastside get all rundown, and it is a Democratic mayor that is getting it cleaned up and turning into a jewel that it should be.
