Thank you mindful, I was just about to bet that Woody Harrelson was probably smarter than Mr Ha,lol. Your reasoning and opinions(staying local) do make a lot of sense, I think. So most seriously considered applicants needed to be a millionaire, own sizable land in hawaii, be ready to go today, and be local?
I am Some what surprised they didn't go to him to pitch, persuade, or lure him (Mr. Ha) into the mmj business, pretty easy for him then to qualify this way too. Kind of reminds me of how that Stanley Roenic didn't really want or ask to be on that BLNR board(blnr bossman over the development of the TMT issues). If i understood him correctly He was put their by the then governor Mr. Ambercrombie via phone call to help out with his rocks he was carrying around with him. Those rocks are probably a bit heavier nowadays, and these types of hiring processes or favors don't seem equal, ethical,or fair, jmopinions.
I edited to add not minus jiberish.

"I Still am not sure that either type of educational background makes for the best possible millionaire picked to run one of our local mmj dispensaries."
So which type of millionaire would you choose to run the dispensaries?

This is priceless !!!
Good evening TomK, looks like your in and I am done. Before I exit tonight let me try and answer your question with an article that does offer up a few millionaires I would approve of, not all of them though.

Peace out Tomk, keep it topic related tonight please.
Obie one, are you part of a forum police unit? Why only my posts get your selective treatment? Although You do make me feel famous at times with the extra pasting attention, just joking.

Right, so picking a few people in that list you consider more appropriate to run dispensaries on Hawaii Island, I come up with Sarah Palin, Martha Stewart, Michael Phelps and Paul McCartney.
Have you reached out to any of these people to see if they're willing to run a dispensary on the island?

My impression, I cannot say for sure gypsy69, is that is exactly what happened. It probably helped to be aligned with a local talent at some point in the process. I have no idea if Richard had the foresight and started working on the process 2 years ago or was approached, say, 1 year ago when it was time for him to make a change.
It was a wise alliance if that was the case. I have never met him, nor knew his involvement in the process so I could be assuming too much.
Just my impression.

Let me see if I understand the argument so far about Mr. Ha becoming a dispensary operator:
He's local, therefore must have received some favoritism due to his insider connections.
He's uneducated, and inexperienced in growing the specific crop of marijuana, so can't possibly do a good job.
The state should have picked an outsider, like a wealthy celebrity to run the dispensaries.
Let's compare this to the TMT:
Protestors are local, have a greater understanding of what it is to be Hawaiian, and should receive favorable treatment from local authorities.
Protestors don't have jobs or go to school so can spend months camped illegally. Their inexperience with the legal system which they chose to ignore up until the time of construction, and their fanciful, imaginative stories of the "real" purpose of the TMT shows not a lack of understanding or grasp of the truth, but their commitment, dedication and understanding of the cause. This means they are doing a good job.
The state should NOT rule in favor of an outsider because the TMT is corporation, run by outsiders, both of which are inherently evil (in this case outsiders are evil).

I'd rather have an honest and intelligent person like Richard Ha growing the pot instead of people who have no problem breaking the law.
Richard Ha will still be (honestly, intelligently, knowingly) violating Federal law.
Anyone remember State's refusal to honor Hawaii County's LLEP ordinance, which was based on the idea that Federal rules always trump local laws?
Irony: dispesary licensees are putting their permits at risk by engaging in any "illegal" activities ... such as acquiring seeds and/or cuttings with which to start operations. (State might be able to ignore things happening within its borders, but importing anything from another state or country would be a clear violation of Federal law.)
Let's compare this to the TMT
A very apt analogy: both are based on "selective interpretation and enforcement" of the existing rules and laws (which "apply to everyone").
