temporary electric pole

Where is the best place to get information on how to build a temporary electric pole? (The building permit is already through, it's on Leilani Estates and there is an existing electric pole right outside the property gate).

Hmmm......wonder why they put the cross support within the 36 inch free working space as designated by the Code. Oh well, gotta build it the way they want or they won't hook up......

I've installed 4 of these things. Best thing you can do, is get the 4x4 in to the lava 3-4 feet and cement it in. That is if you are going to be on it for awhile? I've always cemented mine in... When (if) you get off of it, you can always set it up for a basketball hoop later or a start for a carport support.

Check CL for used ones. HPM will charge you a lot for a "package". I'd wait around till CL had one.

I may not be able to get it in the lava much at all, because most of my site is blue rock. I'll see what I can do.

It's possible (with some engineering) to install "temporary" power on a "permanent" pole.

Such arrangement may make it possible to move the house further back from the road (eg, it wouldn't have to be within 100' of the HELCO line). As far as I can tell, they "don't like" buried conduit from the pole to the house, so any "second hop" should be aerial.

HELCO seems to prefer that you dig a big hole in the blue rock and backfill with concrete, but they can be convinced (with some argument) that a hole bored directly in the blue rock is structurally superior (which it is). Basically, if you have to bore 3 holes (pole + 2 ground rods) you might as well fill them with something better than temporary wood...
