Eggs only contain dietary cholesterol. Your body uses it to produce HDL ("good") and LDL ("bad"") cholesterol. In general the more dietary cholesterol the more HDL and LDL your body produces, but scientific studies show a weak relationship between the amount of cholesterol a person consumes and your blood cholesterol levels.

Thank You everyone for chiming in .
Dels has a large square chicken / rooster trap for about a hundred bucks,We have caught many hens and roosters this way . 1st feed them in the trap for a week or so,they come and go - nothing happens .Not the long skinny cat or mongoose traps .
We like to use raisin bread with their scratch and then every rooster and hen we dislike or intend to consume is an easy catch / dinner .
Terracores method is very similar in concept.
No we do not breed game cocks with the our flock - they are to aggressive .We eat the most aggressive ones.
Not having to buy eggs is less tax and no wharf-age fee of 15% that was recently passed on all foods shipped in containers to the island.
Every one here argues about everything - so as a senior citizen who raises her own nutrition for her large ohana and does not purchase every last thing that is shipped in - to each their own.
If the barge for what ever reason stops for a few weeks - the Safeways of this island will soon be bare of nutrition - rice and toilet tissue 1st.
.
The thread though is not about this - it is about humans who raise an animal for blood sport which we do not and set backs for penned animals that make noises .

I don't think the legislation O'Hara is proposing says anything about blood sports.

Legislation never says what it's really about, and once passed, it will be misused.

I may not be as cynical as kalakoa, but even if this is passed I do wonder how it would ever be enforced. The police already fail to enforce most laws. I guess just more 'selective enforcement' if you piss off the wrong person and don't have any connections.

"As a general rule for every 10 to 12 hens a Show Bird - Game Bird - Rooster - will service those hens daily ."

Obie - Simply stated - 1 ( ONE ) male chicken can service approx 10
( TEN )female chickens in a day and not get worn out.
This is for eggs which are fertilized .
terracore - can you please explain this to Obie in simple terms as you are far more eloquent in your verbiage than i.

I don’t understand the connection between Ag lots and the basic concept of mail delivery. Mail Delivery is federal. The designation of an AG lot is local.
Yes. I want my mail delivered. i also want to be able to grow and/or raise whatever i want.

Susan - in some subdivisions which are AG - mail boxes from USPS are set up in which lot owners pay for their mail to be delivered .
In H.A. there is no mail boxes and a lot owner must go to the P.O. in Mtn.View or Kurtistown to get their mail.
Because of this - Lot owners must show the federal Govt the tax bill to the county every year to qualify for "Free " mail delivery .
Another can of worms that needs it's own thread .
And yes we enjoy raising animals and fruit and veg .
And hope you do as well.

"Then why doesn't it say that? It doesn't say "you can't raise birds to fight".
There are already laws in place for that. They are easily circumvented by the owners referring to them as "show birds" instead of "fighting cocks".
--------------------------------------------
There seems to be strong agreement that this new legislation is specifically targeting cockfighters. But the legislation doesn't say that, it sidesteps the issue with different terminology presumably to avoid legal challenges.
The cockfighters also sidestep by using different terminology, i.e., "show birds" instead of "fighting cocks" to avoid legal challenges. Is one of these more right or wrong than the other?
I'm not in favor of rooster farms and certainly not for cockfighting. I just think the wording should be more clear and honest. As it is currently written I would occasionally be in violation. Probably Mrs. Mimosa, Terracore and others as well. Since "there are already laws in place for that", how about enforcing them instead of passing new legislation that will have negative effects on people outside of the target zone.
Will I now have to neuter my roosters? How is that done? I've butchered many roosters and they all have a pecker on their face, but I can't seem to find the other one.
