Lastly I have dosed myself pretty good a couple of times by accident and experienced no noticeable effects.. I hope I don't get kidney disease later in life but it is a common human foible to mix and match such things: for example if a lifetime of low level exposure will cause cancer then the stuff is bad and a single acute exposure must logically have horrible consequences like vomiting blood exorcist-style. This does not in fact logically follow. All the evidence suggesting a correlation between round-up exposure and kidney disease say nothing about symptoms of short term exposure if there even are any, and none of the literature that I am aware of call out those symptoms. I therefor suspect that the symptoms were from something else.

I general, I am Roundup supporter, but...
If the cat was sprayed, it would have have licked itself repeatedly. I assume you never licked your skin after spraying yourself? I have also sprayed myself with Roundup, many times, but I diddn't lick myself. I washed it off with a lot of water. A cat, being much smaller (15x-20x smaller?) would need much less of a dose to have an ill effect.

Pesticides are completely harmless. Disregard caution labels printed on the containers and remember that only the outside of the plant is sprayed and its not like the plants absorb any of that stuff. Also keep in mind that our organs filter out any bad stuff.

Some people prefer to err on the side of caution. The bill (remember the bill? This topic is about the bill) is not about discontinuing Roundup use or pulling Roundup treated products off the shelves or anything of that nature. It's about notifying the public in advance of the spraying so that people who don't know which side to believe can simply avoid the area IF THEY WANT TO. In today's digital world this can be easily and cheaply done, yet the Dept. of Ag says it will require additional staff and burn through funds, and we spend our time on a tangential discussion about whether it's safe or not, hence the people not knowing who to believe. To me it seems reasonable to have the notice given so that people can either ignore it or take the action of their choice. Why the resistance to this? Why does the topic keep switching tracks and avoiding the very simple content of the bill?

Monsato registers a patent for the exclusive use of glyphosate, which is marketed as RoundUp.
1984
Monsanto, along with other chemical companies who made the nerve gas Agent Orange agree to pay $180 million to veterans alleging serious health problems in order to resolve years of litigation.
1985
The EPA initially classifies glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, as a carcinogen (causing cancer). However, the agency changes their position in 1991.
1996
New York State Attorney General files suit against Monsanto, charging that their marketing of RoundUp in the state as “safer than table salt” and “practically non-toxic” is false and misleading.

Yeah these herbicides can't affect living things (non-plants). My whole theory, (yes just a theory), that a toxin designed to kill plants cannot be beneficial in any way to our bodies, yeah, that's complete drivel. :p

Inert Ingredients in Glyphosate-Based Herbicides Are Toxic to Living Cells
Most studies looking into glyphosate toxicity have only studied glyphosate and its toxic breakdown product, aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA), even though the presence of "inactive" compounds are likely amplifying glyphosate's toxic effects.
A 2012 study revealed that ingredients such as solvents, preservatives, surfactants and other added substances are anything but "inactive." They can, and oftentimes do, contribute to a product's toxicity in a synergistic manner — even if they're non-toxic in isolation.
Certain adjuvants in glyphosate-based herbicides were also found to be "active principles of human cell toxicity," adding to the hazards inherent with glyphosate.
