Ikaika Marzo was on Facebook live saying something about possible gates going up. And also saying that the road was going to be open in about 1 week and access was going to be permitted for everyone to go to Pohoiki. Seems to me there's some misinformation going around. Anyone know any facts with sources. Everyone needs to know. County needs to make a statement on this.

But when the general public will be able to use the graded route over the lava rock remains to be seen.

Janet Snyder, a spokeswoman for Mayor Harry Kim, said in a voicemail Saturday the road will be meant for "emergency use by residents and landowners only, at least initially."

She said she can't say yet when the road, which could take weeks to complete, would be open to the general public. A barricade remains in place on the highway next to the entrance to MacKenzie State Recreation Area.

"emergency use by residents and landowners only,"

i own land out there but because mine is buried under lava I will be denied access.

It's almost as if County is spending public money to build a substandard private road, after which more of our tax money will be spent to control access.

I think your negativity is misplaced here. Taken out of context and warped to your particular anti government bent sure it works. But when looked at in context you are so far off the mark I wonder why you tried.

It's a first stab at getting into the area, what's the problem? It's a good thing, isn't it?
