"I don't often fly to Oahu for groceries. Too bad they didn't extrapolate the infection ratio for islands that are not Oahu."
I'm sure you don't, but if the 10:1 ratio is correct, there are roughly 150 people with COVID-19 on the island that no-one knows about. BTW, extrapolating nonsense data means you get even more nonsense results. Since everyone needs to go out at some point to get food, the chances are higher than you might think that you have been near someone with COVID or have been in a place they have recently visited. And given that testing and contact tracing has been done so poorly in Hawaii, who actually knows how many active cases there are?

It's not the few tourists sitting around HNL airport or elsewhere in that state that are primarily responsible for spreading the bug, it's local gatherings of people and almost entirely on Oahu. Just about every state has seen a surge at some time, too bad it had to happen here also. Maybe this should have been expected? Better testing would help a lot. How about those quick home tests?
Continue to take precautions but don't fear the stinkin' Coronavirus is my advice. OTOH, if you're over 65, obese, ethnic with underlying unhealthy conditions then maybe shelter in place like a sonofabitch would be a better approach.

"A couple years ago, I was having to fly to Oahu with my health care provider, Kaiser Permanente. Luckily, I haven't needed to do that during this pandemic. Fingers crossed on that."
During the last inter-island flight quarantine period, people traveling to other islands for medical appointments were exempt from quarantine. I assume it's the same this time around.
Thanks, Tom!

No doubt Ige will push back the lifting of quarantine for mainland travelers another month. I'm not sure if he's going to lockdown the entire state again. Maybe just Oahu for a few weeks until the numbers start going back down.

Furloughs for state workers may be on the horizon:
When it comes to the state’s finances, Governor David Ige is not pulling any punches. He says the state needs at least $1 billion from the federal government or it may have to consider cutting state programs or reducing workforce expenses.
We need to get additional federal aid or else we will have to take dramatic and decisive action to deal with our budget crisis,” Ige said in an interview with HPR.

Ige doesn't know how to take decisive action, so this statement is clearly a lie.

"There were 233 new cases Friday, including 218 on Oahu, nine on Maui, five on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Additionally, Hawaii News Now has learned 50 of the new cases are children."
They never said anything about 50 children getting the virus today on KHON tv news this evening. Who's telling the truth and who's not telling us everything? 50 children getting corvid19 is definitely newsworthy! Who can you believe anymore???

... and the #1 rhetorical question for 2020 is:
Who can you believe anymore???

50 children represented in the new numbers is sort of good news because they won't end up in hospital. 173 hospitalized with Covid in Hawaii is a lot for one of the low population states. If you look at small NE states such as Maine, NH, Vermont they only have a handful or two people currently hospitalized. 173 with 2,787 active cases for Hawaii. An interesting comparison is Alaska with 33 currently hospitalized and 2,854 active cases. Both AK and HI have been surging simultaneously over the past month or so.

I've not convinced the argument that 50 children getting infected is sort of good news. I understand what you are saying, it's unlikely they will suffer serious health consequences, but they will be sources of transmission to all their families and friends. It's not as if you can isolate kids from their families.
