Target

I just heard on the morning news that Target Hilo has “some” cases of Covid-19 among employees. That’s disappointing as it was usually my first stop on grocery day.

 Wa

Is the official story or just a rumor you are passing on. If this a official story please share link. I am tired of rumors the just ruin business  and cause panic like you are now.

I heard it also on Khon tv this morning. Said they were deep cleaning the whole store because several employees tested positive with the virus. It is very strange how there is no written mention of it anywhere even at the KHON TV news website.  I went to target anyway early this morning and the whole place smelled like disinfectant.

Of course it would have been irresponsible to pass on a rumor like that and I should have noted the source, which was Wake Up Today morning news. On the other hand, your accusation that I was causing panic and ruining a business is obviously untrue and perhaps deserves a retraction.

From my perspective as a customer and local citizen, I was left with a few questions that weren't answered by the KHON piece.

1. Are they testing all the employees?

2. Exactly how many is "multiple" positives?

3. Did the positive employees contract Covid-19 on the job or in some other location such as after-hours employee socializing?

That last question would probably require an competent tracking and tracing protocol, which is something Hawaii doesn't really have. I ask it anyway because I find it highly unlikely that "multiple" people from the same work environment would randomly become positive through entirely outside means, although "a few" certainly might.

You must be new here... I'm surprised that Target's announcement was picked up at all. Safe bet there's already been an outbreak at one or more of the other big-box retailers and they simply didn't bother to tell anyone.

I guess that is better than the KTA store smelling like old fish at the entrance?

Are some of you are thinking of avoiding a big store like that because some of the employees have tested positive?  To that I say, uh, okay, where are you going instead that is "safe"?  This virus is out there.  Probably at every big store.  Wide-spread already on this island.  Just continue your mask-wearing, social distancing and hand washing wherever you go.  That's all you can do at this point.
