But we already know that vaccinated people can spread Covid, it's just that unvaccinated people spread it much more efficiently overall and also suffer worse symptoms once they're infected. So I still don't understand where you are going with this.

Edit Reason: clarity
)
A "glass half full" approach to interpreting the latest news might be to look at the bright side of the current strain on health resources. We need to be completely prepared for the almost inevitable variant that renders the current, under-performing mRNA therapy completely obsolete. That variant might already be here. According to The United Nations News:
New Mu variant could be more vaccine-resistant https://news.un.org/en/story/2021/09/1098942
We want our healthcare systems to be built up to the level needed to provide quality care to all of our ohana when the time comes.
Perhaps a deeper discussion of Mu will soon become a good topic for a new thread.

The only thing underperforming is your critical thinking. The vaccines are saving lives. I'm sure if the mu variant proves to be a threat they'll come out with a booster for it.
Having the hospitals full of covidiots is just hurting our economy, burning out healthcare workers, and putting people who need other medical care at risk. Completely selfish behavior that hurts everyone.

Since the Mu variant has learned how to be resistant to the current vaccines, it's my understanding that we would need an entirely new vaccine rather than another booster shot.

I've been getting vaccines all my life. This time isn't any different. WHY WON'T SOME PEOPLE GET VACCINATED? WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEM?

Good question. It would appear to have something to do with critical thinking.

Herr Gottlieb has pronounced that the U.S. should be going back to normal, sort of, after Delta wave is over.
No mention of Hawaii in this 6 minute video I will link in which he discusses this, unfortunately.

Mu Shmoo! Previously infected and vaccinated are still expected to be protected against severe disease.

Wait just a minute. Previously infected = "covidiots" right?

Yes Kimo:
Vaccine hesitancy linked to lower IQ:

Covid infection results in lower IQ:

Then clearly the previously infected can be forgiven for being vaccine hesitant.
