I was down at Cost U Less today and took this picture of BJ Penn's property next door.  I think it's been like this for ages.  Perhaps he plans to do for the state of Hawaii what he's accomplished with his own property?

The former bowling alley does not belong to BJ Penn. Nice try.

You’re right.  It belongs to his mother. And has a 20 foot high painting of bj on the side opposite the piles of garbage.

To be fair, BJ is probably not calling his own shots.

That said, I think BJ is the best possible option. Either the Legislature gets their act together so they can work around him, or we have 4 years of gridlock -- which is less bad than, say, a lockdown that forces people out of business.

I agree.
He also has no platform, except for random talking points.
He speaks in tangents, listen to his interview with Joe Rogen.  His answers are like the Chatty Cathy dolls my sisters had, where you pull a string in the back of the neck and the doll shuffled through prerecorded sentences.
He has however raised the most money for his campaign on the Republican side.

I haven't peeked inside but they have been working on this non stop over a year.

From observation, it looks like they have gutted the inside and the building is in process of getting new siding. Your photo is just that, a snapshot in time of a large ( for hilo ) construction site.

Hopefully he doesn't tap out and resign like Tito Ortiz did as Huntington Beach Mayor.

I am reminded of the movie Brewster's Millions, where Richard Pryor's campaign slogan is "A vote for me is a vote for none of the above".

So, the perfect politician then.

If you think that eternal pile of trash is a snapshot, you must take a lot of seriously overexposed pictures.

The front of the building is the public face, the back a behind the scenes investigation, about what’s really going on.  And what we as voters most likely will get if bj is elected.
