Yet another power outage in Central hpp. When we call Helco, we don't even get through to a live person. A recording says "Thank you for calling Helco. We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please call again later."

Came back on about 15 minutes ago, just as I had finished hooking up the generator to run the house. Oh, well. Good practice, I guess.

The outage happens few times a month ever since our meter was upgraded this year.

No Iju. the outage was caused by an accident in Hakalau, not your meter upgrade.

I'm pretty happy with the dependability of the electric here. In PA, I lived in a "modern" suburban area that had all the services that people complain about not having here. We would lose electricity at least 3 to 5 times a year. It was never for less than 4-6 hours, sometimes more than 8 hours.
I'm in lower HPP, and in the 2 years I've been here I've lost it only a couple of times, never for more than 4 hours, usually only for less than an hour.

If my electricity went out that often I'd think about getting a temperature logger for my fridge!

Every time the power goes out HPP or elsewhere, Hawaiian telcom internet in Orchidland goes out for at least an hour even if our power is fine.

We have spectrum internet and solar power. When the grid goes down it takes only a moment for our solar to kick in but that's enough to boot the modem offline. I just turn it off and then back on and internet is back in about five minutes.

Yeah, very happy to be off-grid. Even if I were on-grid I'd have a hybrid system.
