Speaking of Hawaii gun control laws W/O Hijacking any other thread...

If this shows anything to me it says the victim has/used very poor judgment.

The 1st offender was an “acquaintance.”

Meeting just “after midnight” to buy tires?

As for the rest of the story, while I can only speculate, but 8k in cash and a Mercedes?

At any event, the victim was either a braggart or was just very naive and was truly just ambushed.

I am very happy and surprised to see the significant bail amounts being set for the offenders when you consider the guy who put 3 bullet holes into his neighbor is still “released, pending investigation”

Nothing in that article says that the victim was targeted due to his firearm ownership. Full Stop. Why bother trying to hype a situation for no other reason than to participate in the 'guns are bad' circle jerk?! Shame.

The victim was bamboozled by an individual known to him so not much opportunity to defend ones property from strangers ala a home invasion. Pick better friends maybe...

The victim added that one of the masked suspects held him down while the other masked suspect and Gonsalves entered his residence and removed several items, including a pistol, a shotgun, and a rifle

The victim clearly associates with the wrong type of fellas.

Look at those mug shots and charges!  There sure is a lot of human vermin on island, the vast majority of them being men.

So has anyone got their license to carry, open or concealed? Is it a good time to apply?

The first rule of having guns in Hawaii is: never talk about them or show them to anyone.

And your point is?

Should he be subject to ridicule because he had guns but he did not use them?

Would this be a story if there were no guns involved?

We're so anti-gun nowadays that we are going to start trying to disarm the police and then even the military.

Please understand that even if all gun manufacturing in America were to stop today, there are already enough guns here to last us to the end of time.   Right now there are enough guns to arm every American.  At least once and possibly twice.

Awe come on Aaron, The ideology is more important than reality to them ... lol. ; )

Oldie but a goodie. From Wiki.

"American civilians own nearly 100 times as many firearms as the U.S. military and nearly 400 times as many as law enforcement." Americans bought more than 2 million guns in May 2018, more than twice the total number of arms possessed by law enforcement agencies in the United States combined."

Gun owners in Hawaii.

Hawaii County should issue concealed carry permits to every citizen who proves their competency by passing the same firearms exam that the police do. If you can handle and operate your weapon in a safe and sane manner and your range scores reflect an ability to hit what you are aiming at, AND if you pass your psych eval, then you get your permit. Granted both of these hoops would be subject to endless lawsuits since the preferred interpretation of the constitution for millions of people is 'everybody gets a gun, no questions asked'.
